President Mahama leaves for New York
President John Dramani Mahama will leave Accra Friday for New York, US to participate in the 68th General Assembly of the UN.
He would address the General Assembly on 26th of this month. The 193 member body will discuss post MDGs which will end in 2015.
Briefing the media at the Flagstaff House in Accra, Minister of Information and Media Relations, Mahama Ayariga said reports reviewed by experts indicate that Ghana has halved extreme poverty, five years ahead of the target year of 2015.
As a result, Ghana has been selected to play a key role in assessing the MDGs and the way forward for the next development agenda of the UN.
Mr. Ayariga said President Mahama will participate in other activities in Washington and Atlanta and later move to the UK for another official engagement.
The President, he said will return home on October 6, next month.
