Kpong Water Expansion Works to be completed by 2014- Minister

The Minister for Water Resources, Works and Housing, Collins Dauda, has expressed government’s commitment to ensure that the Kpong Water Works Expansion Project is completed by December 2014 to provide water to the people of Adenta and its environs.

According to him "government has secured a concessional loan of $ 260 million from the Chinese government with an additional $13 million to be provided by the government of Ghana to expand the water supply system at Kpong by 40mgd."

Mr Dauda disclosed this today on the floor of Parliament in a response to a question by the MP for Adenta, Emmamuel Nii Ashie-Moore, on when the Kpong Water Works will come on stream to relieve the people of Adenta.

He said "the transmission pipeline which has been routed through Dodowa to Adenta is 90 pe rcent complete adding that the water treatment plant, booster station and the intake are nearing completion."

The Minister assured that the people of Adenta and its environs would be receiving sufficient water through their taps by the end of 2014.

Meanwhile at the commencement of public business the Value Added Tax Bill 2013 was taken through consideration stage.
