Ghanaian Media Urged To Intensify Education On District Assembly Elections

The National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) has added its voice to calls on the media to intensify education on the upcoming District Assembly elections.

With barely a month for the elections, the media have been bashed for its poor reportage on the exercise.

The National Media Commission has also raised similar concerns.

The Director of Programmes at NCCE, Samuel Akwamoah urged the media to devote more time to creating awareness on the elections.

Director of Programmes at NCCE, Samuel Akwamoah, the Editor of Ghanaian Times and General Secretary of the Ghana Journalist Association, Dave Agbenu said the media cannot take the blame alone as the EC and the NCCE have failed to provide platforms that will attract media coverage on the district assembly elections.

Mr Agbenu called on the Electoral Commission and the NCCE to be proactive in creating awareness on the exercise. – GBC
