AU, ECOWAS GROUP BIDS AMB. LT. GEN. SMITH FAREWELL
Members of the Diplomatic community of the African Union (AU) and the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) last January, bid farewell to a colleague, His Excellency Lt. Gen. Joseph Henry Smith, who had completed his tour of duty as Ghana’s Ambassador to the United States of America (USA).
Ambassador after Ambassador took turns to express their sadness at the thought that they are losing a colleague who they described as an excellent military officer, astute politician and a Diplomat par excellence.
The Diplomatic Community, especially their wives, also acknowledged the accomplishment of Mrs. Douha Smith, who served as President of Spouses of African Ambassador’s Association and said the vacuum her departure has created would be difficult to fill.
The Ambassadors thanked Mrs. Smith for her service to the Association and her support which made her husband, a successful Diplomat.
Ambassador Smith thanked his colleagues and acknowledged their support and cooperation which he said, helped him achieve his mission as Ghana’s representative in the US.
