Iron Ore found in Northern Region

Mr. Amos Owusu Boateng, the Country Director of Inland Ghana Mines Ltd, a mineral exploration company, says geochemical exploration done in the Northern Region has revealed large quantities of iron ore deposits at Shieni and other locations in the area.

According to him, there are traces of other minerals such as silica, copper, manganese, aluminum and chrome, which are yet to be subjected to further laboratory tests to confirm their quantities.

Mr. Owusu Boateng disclosed this in Tamale, when he paid a courtesy call on Mr. Nasamu Asabigi, the Deputy Northern Regional Minister, in the company of Obore Gariba Yankosor, Paramount Chief of Tatale, to present a copy of the findings to him.

He pointed out that his company has all the equipment and the needed resources to undertake full-scale production, adding that they will provide their own energy needed for production to be done locally as a way of generating employment for the people.
