Work on two varsities to commence soon

Mr. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, a Deputy Minister of Information, says President John Atta Mills will cut sod for commencement of work on the Universities of Health and Allied Sciences and University of Energy and Natural Resources in Ho and Sunyani, respectively.

According to him, the Ghana Education Trust Fund (GETFund) has been very supportive of the two universities and noted that funding has already been secured for the projects.

 Mr. Ablakwa explained that there will be active participation of the private sector in the areas of hostel accommodation and other infrastructure development.

 He added further that, there will be massive job creation since Ghanaians will be in charge of important infrastructure during the construction of the universities, whilst insurance companies, banks, restaurants and other service sectors will also be developed.

 Mr. Ablakwa said, the University of Energy and Natural Resources will focus mainly on how the country can maximise her natural resources in the face of the oil find and other natural resources such as timber, gold, diamond and bauxite.
