Government to provide permanent jobs for NYEP interns

Mr. James Kofi Fonu, the Deputy National Coordinator of the National Youth Employment Programme (NYEP) in charge of Monitoring and Evaluation, says government is introducing measures to ensure that interns of NYEP secure permanent jobs in various establishments.


He explains that consultations have, therefore, been held with the various Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs), the Ghana Revenue Authority and VAT Service on possible employment.

 Mr. Fonu disclosed this in Accra, saying 100,000 interns have already been engaged in the system, out of which 20 percent will be given full employment at their various establishments, whilst 400,000 will be engaged from now to 2013 on the NYEP.

 Mr. Fonu said interns in the Community Police Service will also be absorbed into the Ghana Police Service after a year, whilt an estimated 600,000 youth will be employed under the STX Housing Project.
