Duusi vocational institute gets more facilities
Mr. John Tia Akologo, the Minister of Information, has handed over a new building to the Duusi Vocational Institute in the Talensi-Nabdam District of the Upper East Region.
The project, valued at GH¢40,000, comprise six classrooms, a store, teachers’ common room and a library, was funded from the Member of Parliament’s share of the Common Fund and the Ghana Education Trust Fund (GETFUND).
Mr. Akologo, speaking at the handing over ceremony at Duusi, said the project is to help in providing training and skills to students who are unable to pursue higher academic education, to attain careers and lead self-supporting lives.
He urged the youth to take advantage of the facility to acquire employable skills, such as block work and concreting, carpentry and joinery, plumbing, basic electrical, fashion and design, hair dressing, catering and food science, to enable them improve upon their living conditions.
Mr. Akologo called on the private sector to partner government in the provision of students’ hostel and teachers’ accommodation for the institute.
The institute was also provided with 60 sewing machines and 40 hair driers and accessories, valued at GH¢25,000.
