Government to build new school block
Mr. John Mahama, the Vice-President, says government will provide funds for the construction of additional 1,500 school blocks in selected areas countrywide, this year.
He points out that government constructed 1,000 school buildings last year in her quest to improve access to education and also enhance teaching ad learning.
Mr Mahama disclosed this at Odumasi Krobo, at the 84th Speech and Prize-giving Day of the Krobo Girls’ Presbyterian Senior High School in the Eastern Region on the theme, ‘Socio-Economic Development of Ghana – The Role of Girl Education’.
He said government is steadily fulfilling its promises in the educational sector, stressing that 80 percent of pupils have been covered in the distribution of free school uniforms.
The Veep said government’s promise to offer bursaries to girls offering science and technology courses, has already been met, pointing out that the School Feeding Programme is also being diversified to target more schools.
