Vice President commends Japan
H.E. John Mahama, the Vice President, has commended the Japanese government for restoring the Yen loan facility to Ghana, to support the country’s socio-economic development.
He says with Japan financing several key infrastructural projects, those in the health, education and transportation sectors will be completed to meet the huge infrastructural needs.
The Veep said this at the Castle, Osu when Mr. Keiichi Katakami, the Japanese Ambassador to Ghana, paid a farewell call on him, saying, “we will continue to count on Japanese support for our development projects.”
He said that it is through the instrumentality of Mr. Katakami that the Yen loan facility, on which “good progress has been made,” was restored to the country in September, last year and urged the Japanese government to invest further in the gas sector, though a memorandum of understanding for fertilizer production using Ghana’s gas resources has already been signed between the two countries.
