US funds road project to link two districts
Mr. Abu Kasanbata, the District Chief Executive (DCE) for Nadowli has announced that, the United States of America has provided US$1.5 million for the construction of a 7.5 Kilometer road to link the Wa East and Nadowli Districts to help promote economic activities of peasant farmers in the area.
He explains that, under the project, one steel bridge and two other bridges will be constructed by P.W. Ghanem Construction within seven months. Mr. Kasanbata made this announcement at Nadowli in the Upper West Region, during an inspection tour of government projects in the area, saying that the road will open up the area to investors who are interested in investing in agriculture. He also inspected a market project at Kojoperi which the assembly was financing at a cost of GH¢28,000 to help improve revenue mobilization. Other project Mr. Kasanbata inspected included Teachers’ Bungalow, a block of three classrooms, a Day Nursery and a Police Station at Issa, all at a cost of GH¢238,000. He announced that all the 55 schools in the district that are benefiting from the School Feeding Programme will be provided with boreholes at a cost of GH¢495,000 to make potable water available to the children. Mr. Kawabata also inspected a newly constructed link road between Daguabaa and Baleonie, constructed at the cost of GH¢43,000. Source; ISD
