Offinso gets multi-purpose technology centre
Rt. Rev. Osei Safo-Kantanka, the Methodist Bishop of Kumasi, has cut the sod for commencement of work on a GH¢125,000-multi-purpose Institute of Technology Centre at Offinso in the Ashanti Region.
He explains that the facility, which will serve as a training centre for the youth in employable skills, will be equipped by the Rural Enterprises Project (REP) as part of the government’s effort at developing the youth in the area.
Rt. Rev. Safo-Kantanka speaking at Offinso during the sod-cutting ceremony, pointed out that the Methodist Church has already set up a credit scheme to enable trainee’s access loans on flexible terms to establish their own businesses after their training.
He said that the church shares equal responsibility for development of the country’s youth through skills training and counseling and pledged the church’s commitment to supporting government in the promotion of technical and vocational training in the country since they are crucial for national development.
