More funds for Eastern Corridor roads.

Government has secured another $250 million to support the construction of the Eastern Corridor road which will link the Northern parts of the country to the South, through the Volta Region.


This is as a result of the decision taken by the Brazilian government to review the terms of a $250 million loan facility already granted to the Ghana but for a different project.

 This follows the meetings held between John Dramani Mahama the Vice-President and his Brazilian counterpart, Michel Miguel Elias Temer Lulia.

 Present at the meeting were Mr. Joe Gidisu the Minister for Roads and Highways, Mr. Chris Kpodo, the Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs, Mr. Seth Terkper, a Deputy Finance Minister and Mr. Fernando Pimentel, the Brazilian Minister for Development, Industry and Commerce.

 The Veep, who was on a three-day working visit at the invitation of the Brazilian Government delivered, a special congratulatory message from President Mills to President Dilma Vana Rouseff on his electoral victory.

 Brazil has also agreed to support Ghana with technical assistance and affirmed its commitment to supply Ghana with 500 tractors under the ‘More Food for Africa Programme’.

 The meeting also discussed the supply of buses for mass transport in all the cities in Ghana to ease traffic congestion.
