Ghana to develop National Portal
Mr. Baba Jamal, a Deputy Minister of Information, has announced that government is developing a national portal information system to provide relevant information on every sector of the economy to potential investors on the Internet.
According to him, the Ministry of Information is already in collaboration with the District Assemblies to gather the necessary information, not only on the potential investments and tourist sites in their areas, but also the cultural, educational, agricultural and health infrastructure in the districts.
Mr. Jamal made the announcement in Tamale, during a meeting with District Chief Executives (DCEs) and District Information Officers (DIOs) in the Northern Region, adding that the Ministry will also develop an attractive brand name that will be appealing to investors and Ghanaians alike.
He also urged the regions and districts to adopt attractive brand names with which they could be easily identified, as well as make them marketable to the outside world.
Mr. Jamal further announced that in line with the development of the national portal and the Branding Ghana Project, all District Information Offices will soon be provided with computers to facilitate their work.
He, therefore, appealed to the DCEs to support the staff of the ISD to disseminate government information and also implement the policies and programs by providing logistic support.
