Water delivery service for Afram plains launched
Hon. Haruna Iddrisu, the Minister of Communication, has launched a two-million dollar Sustainable Water Service Delivery (SWSD) project to assess the functionality and impact of all water points in Afram Plains District.
He stated that its government’s policy to partner with civil society agencies, non-governmental organizations and development partners to mobilize resources for sustainable water service delivery for urban, peri-urban and rural communities in Ghana.
Hon. Iddrisu said this when he launched the project on behalf of the Minister of Water Resources, Works and Housing (MWRWH), adding that sustainable water delivery is anchored on many parameters of which project functionality and beneficiary assessment are essential.
He therefore reiterated government’s commitment to continue to introduce various reforms and support any initiative, which seeks to improve the performance of the water and sanitation sub-sector.
The two-year project is being executed by the African Regional Centre for Water and Sanitation (GREPA), with funding from the Conrad N. Hilton Foundation.
