Dr. Frankline Manu Amoah, the Executive Director of the Cocoa Research Institute of Ghana, (CRIG), has announced that Ghana will hit the target of 1,000,000 (one million) metric tonnes of cocoa beans by the end of 2010-2011 cocoa season.

He explains that records available shows that the nation’s production is above 9,000.000 metric tonnes and it is expected that by the end of the lean season Ghana will have achieved her aim.

Dr. Amoah, disclosed this at Tafo at the first Cocoa Research senior citizens and retired workers’ get-together, stressing that management of CRIG is leaving no stone unturned to achieve the target set for Ghana and also ensure that the country become the world leader in cocoa production by next year.

He attributed the achievement to the prudent measures put in place by the stakeholders, especially the innovative development by the Cocoa Research Institute to the farmers.
