New bridge over River Tano

Alhaji Collins Dauda, the Minister of Transport, says government has released GH¢285,000 for the construction of a new bailey bridge over the Tano River on the Mehame Dadiesoaba feeder road in the Asutifi District of the Brong Ahafo Region.

He said the new bridge will replace the old, which is not in a good condition and cuts off the two cocoa growing communities of Mehame and Dadiesoaba, any time it rains heavily.

Alhaji Dauda who is also the Member of Parliament for Autifi South, said this at the sod-cutting ceremony at Dadiesoaba, for the commencement of work on the 11.2 kilometre Mehame Junction-Dadiesoaba feeder road on which the bridge is situated.

He pointed out that project, which is estimated at GH¢4.3 million, will be completed in 18 months and is being executed by Messrs B. K. Nsiah and Amo Prempeh company Limited.

Mr. Kwadwo Nyamekye-Marfo, the Brong Ahafo Regional Minister, on his part noted that government has also made available GH¢10.3 million for the construction of three feeder roads in the region this year.

Mr. Opoku Agyemang, the Brong Ahafo Regional Manager of the Quality Control Company, who represented Mr. Anthony Fofie, the Chief Executive Officer of the COCOBOD, said the Brong Ahafo Region contributed significantly to cocoa production in the country, hence the construction of cocoa roads in the region by government.
