300 Multi-Purpose Trucks Inaugurated

H. E John Dramani Mahama, the Vice President has inaugurated three hundred locally assembled trucks to support the work of farmers and traders in the country.


According to him, the trucks will be used for carting fresh meat and produce from the slaughter houses and farm gates to the markets and food processing centres.

Mr. Mahama disclosed this at Batsona in Accra and stressed that the multi-purpose trucks will be sold to interested farmers and traders on hire purchase basis under the Local Enterprises and Skills Development Programme (LESDEP).

The Veep pointed out that LESDEP is an initiative by the government, which seeks to give specialized training in all trade sectors and is implemented in collaboration with the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development and other agencies including the National Youth Employment Programme.

He said more than 1,000 youth has been trained under the various modules across the country.
