Government to Provide More Roads in Ablekuma South

Government has earmarked for construction three additional roads in the Ablekuma South Constituency as part of on-going construction of a 2.3 kilometre dual carriage road in Dansoman in Accra.

The projects, which would be funded from a loan facility, include the Mamprobi, New Mamprobi and Chorkor roads.

The Information Minister and Member of Parliament (MP) for the Constituency, Hon. Fritz Baffour, made these known when he presented fishing equipment worth GH¢ 6,000 to the fisher folks of the Chorkor Landing Beach Community (LBC) today. The items included fishing ropes and wire mesh.

The funds for the equipment was generated from the sales of Pre-mix fuel supplied by government to major fishing communities. This is a major policy to ensure that the fishing industry remains vibrant and contributes to the development of the fishing industry.

Presenting the equipment, Hon. Fritz Baffour gave assurance of government’s continuous support to their needs, adding that a commercial cold store had been proposed for the community as a way of revamping fishing activities in the area.

Hon. Fritz Baffour said in view of the development disparity in the area, government would soon provide vital social amenities that had been lacking in the community.

The acting chairman of the Chorkor LBC, Mr Bismark Doku Nettey, and expressed gratitude for the interventions earmarked for the area and commended government for its policies for the fishing industry.
