Physically challenged gets assistance

The Government of Ghana has presented GH¢31, 615, 00 to the second batch of 69 persons living with disabilities (PWDs), in the Dormaa Municipality of the Brong Ahafo Region.

The donation was to enable the PWDs expand their businesses and pursue higher education.

Mr. Vincent Oppong Asamoah, the Dormaa Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), presented a cheque to Madam Georgina Adoura of Aboabo Number Three, one of the beneficiaries and said government is committed to supporting people with disability to realize their potentials.

Mr. Owusu Sekyere the Municipal Social Welfare Officer, on his part pointed out that the first batch of beneficiaries has received GH¢44,215 which was disbursed to 65 PWDs as well as a corn mill valued at GH¢8,139.

He further assured the beneficiaries that government will continue to support the hardworking people and also advised them to participate in the voters registration exercise.

Mr. P.K. Amoako, who represented the Ghana Blind Union, expressed gratitude to government, as well as the MCE for their commitment and concern for the disabled.
