Youth Urged to Acquire Employable Skills
Dr. Edward Omane-Boama, the Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports, has called on the youth to take advantage of opportunities offered by the government to acquire employable skills.
He said the training programme, which is made possible by the rlG Communications Company brought to 24,000 the total number of youth trained under the module in the third contract between rlG Communications and the NYEP programme.
Dr. Omane-Boama made this known at Ho during a graduation ceremony of 710 beneficiaries who have undergone a six-month training in ICT under the National Youth Employment Programme (NYEP) module.
They were trained in mobile phone and laptop assembling and repairs, entrepreneurship skills, computer hardware and computer software.
The minister noted that the youth must reciprocate government initiative under the NYEP by getting employable skills to improve their living standards.
He further indicated that government’s promise to invest in people is becoming reality and called on the beneficiary youth to take good care of the tolls given them to improve themselves.
Mr. Henry Fird Kamal, the Volta Regional Minister, in a speech read on his behalf by Mr. Isaac Kodobisah, MCE, spoke of the need to expand the module to enable more young people to benefit.
