     Title: Oneness Family School Unites World Diplomats

In commemoration of the 71st Anniversary of the United Nations, the Oneness Family School in Washington DC, brought together diplomats and officials representing over 70 countries around the world in a flag-bearing ceremony themed “Education Goes International” on October 21, 2016.

The annual event which started 28 years ago as part of the school’s initial vision has gained momentum and much support from the diplomatic community in the Washington DC Metro area.  This year, Mr. Ernest-Burke Asare-Asiedu, Minister and Head of Chancery of the Embassy of Ghana represented the Mission.

In describing the day, Mr. Andrew Kutt, founder of the school said “this day embodies what our future holds as a global community of cooperation and connectedness between nations. The event is a powerful experience for our students as we honor our social, cultural and religious differences, while bringing us together as one peaceful community.”

In a warm display of unity to emphasize this point, Ambassadors and officials from various embassies including Ghana joined the procession by carrying flags from their respective countries. “At a time when our country and our world are facing growing strife along social, racial and religious lines, this event demonstrates that it is possible to bring people together for a common cause – and remind us that creating an environment where we can work together is possible…” Mr. Kutt said.

Program highlights for this year included, art exhibitions, music and dance performances by students paying tribute to the cultures of Japan and Greece.  A moving rendition of “Heal the World,” a song by Michael Jackson ended the performances for the day.

Founded almost 30 years ago in 1988, Oneness Family School is a private, nonprofit Montessori education facility with a wide-ranging curriculum and a student-to-teacher ratio, aimed at providing the best environment for brain development, social and emotional learning during the formative years of a child’s life.
